OUR PROGRAMS

Girls STEM (Monday)

  • Girls STEM explores global gender-based challenges that impact young women and gender non-conforming youth through game design and computer programming. Students develop their own digital campaigns and games to address issues such as access to education, workplace discrimination, and reproductive rights

Leadership (Tuesday)

  • Leadership allows students to work with a diverse group of peers to enhance their global and international knowledge. This will help students build their leadership and communication skills.

Human Rights Activism Project (Wednesday)

  • Human Rights Activism Project is an opportunity for students to address human rights issues and use their voices to change their communities. Students learn how to develop a campaign for social change through community outreach, direct action, working with elected officials, and networking with other organizers.

Undesirable Elements: Performing Arts Program (Thursday)

  • Undesirable Elements is an afterschool program that provides students with a platform to express themselves and explore their talents. Students in this program come from diverse backgrounds and share dance, songs, act, stories and drumming form their cultures. Students then combine their talents to explore global issues through group performance.

Game Makers (Friday)

  • Game Makers turns students into game designers, game developers, researchers, writers, storyboarders, and community advocates all at once. By creating a location-based game about their community and important events that affect them globally, students at John Adams will learn tools and skills for today's advancing technological world.

Global Kids, Inc. (GK) is the premier nonprofit educational organization for global learning and youth development that works to ensure that youth from underserved areas have the knowledge, skills, experiences and values they need to succeed in school, participate effectively in the democratic process, and achieve leadership in their communities and on the world.

WHO WE ARE
PROGRAM DESCRIPTION

Global Kids is a youth development program that guides young people on how to become leaders in the community, providing opportunities for students to make a difference in the world. Our programs allow students to have discussions on topics about global and local issues and learn how to take action on these issues. Our office is also a safe space for students to hang out, find resources, play games, and seek mentorship during their lunch or free period. Global Kids programs take place everyday after school with snacks provided.
